My little Cowboys

Okay, this should be my last rodeo post I promise! This afternoon we took our little cowboys to see the rodeo. They loved it! All three of them we so excited and just plain happy to be there. My parents also came and so that makes my boys experience that much more fun! We had those super close seats again and the boys got to have the full experience. Shaking the hands of the rodeo clown...

getting hopped up on sugar from the yummy blue cotton candy...

feeling the breeze of the animals racing past you and getting a little stinky dirt in your lap.

This is how Carter sat for a while at the beginning.... the action had his eyebrows working overtime and the dirt would land on him and he would have to dust it off right away.

Oh and Colton ended up on the jumbo tron while he was dancing and was even given a hat by the Pick Up team. (They give out three at each performance to random people in the audience.)

After the actual rodeo events, the duet that performed was Steel Magnolia. I knew them from the show "Can you Duet?" They were pretty good but we were ready to go outside and enjoy the beautiful day so we only stayed for a few songs. First, we had to stop and take a few pictures in front of the backdrop in the arena.

Isn't this hilarious!! I love these silly boys!!

We were all geared up to ride some carnival rides but oh. my. gosh! We walked out and the crowds were insane. People everywhere. Super long lines. So even though I am embarrassed to say it, we bribed our children. Not my most proud parenting tactic but a very effective one. =)We offered them a souvenir of their choice if we could skip the excess waiting we would have to endure. After some thought, they took the bribe. Smart boys! ;) We  were all exhausted but had such a GrEaT afternoon.

Five Question Friday

I am playing along again today with Five Question Friday.

1. Would you rather be on ABC's Extreme Home Make Over or TLC's What not to Wear?
Definitely, What not to Wear! If I was on Extreme Home Makeover it would mean that I would have suffered a major loss or tragedy in my life. No thanks!!
I would  totally shoulder the embarrassment of being selected for What not to Wear. If it meant that Stacy and Clinton would give me a $5,000 gift card and help me shop for what best suits my body, sign me up!  The idea of a makeover from professionals in hair, make up and fashion is dreamy! Oh and a week in New York would be awesome!

2. Do you have any tattoos?
Do I have to answer that? Okay, so I got a small and very discreet one in college. My friend Lynn and I got the same one. It is our sorority letters. Do I regret it? No because it is tiny and never has to be seen. I know what you are thinking but it is not on my hiney. It is on my hip. I do love that most people are shocked that I have one. I guess it is very out of character for me. But seriously, if you saw how tiny it is, you would laugh at the "mini-rebel" I was being that day.

3. Do you tell your kids about things you did growing up?
Definitely, well at least the stories of when I was a kid. They love to hear stories about "the old days."  But I was a very good girl. (Well, until the tattoo.) I was so afraid to get in trouble that I walked the line. I was a big confessor of everything. Even the tiniest, no nothing things. I would leave notes on my mom's pillow apologizing for the silliest stuff. My conscience was in overdrive. My mom use to tell me that I really didn't need to tell her everything.  =) And yes- she knows about the tattoo.
Oh, but there are a few stories late in high school and college that I would leave out when sharing with my kiddos. =)

4. If the traffic signal turns yellow, do you stop or speed up?
Depends, but most of the time I think I speed up. Isn't that what the yellow one means. ;) I will say that I am much more cautious when I have all my precious cargo with me.

5. What's your preference: chocolate or chips?
Definitely chocolate! I have the biggest sweet tooth!! I basically crave sugar. After a meal, I am consumed with what I will have for dessert. Most of what I would choose would have something chocolatey in it or on top of it. Right now, a favorite restaurant dessert splurge is the Zeppoli from Olive Garden. It is Italian donuts dusted with powdered sugar and they serve it with chocolate dipping sauce. Delicious!!

Rodeo Wrap Up

We had a great couple of nights at the rodeo this week. On Wednesday, we saw Mercy Me with 4 other couples.(So nice of the couple we co teach at church with to cover us so we could go) It was an awesome show! I LOVED that in such a huge place meant for bull riding, calf roping, and barrel racing, lots of believers were praising the Lord. The band was so amazing and humble. At one point, the band had the entire audience singing "Amazing Grace" to them. AwEsOmE!! The lead singer said this and it really stuck with me," God loves you where you are right now and he loves you enough not to leave you there." Amen!
Another great thing about that night were the seats our dear friends Travis and Jenni invited us to sit in. They are literally on the front row. We were all up in the excitement, complete with a little smelly dirt that got kicked up on us during the rodeo action.  =)
The hubby and I

Kelly, Jenni and me

Leon Coffee- a hilarious rodeo clown who has been around a long time.
My boys love to watch him when they go.

Yes- we totally gave the band five as they exited the arena

Then last night, we had some good Mexican food at Chuy's and then headed to see The Randy Rogers band. We got to have this night out with one of my best friends, Lynn and her hubby Jason. I don't think the four of us have had a "double date" since college. So much fun! The band put on a good show and had us all singing along too. (Just didn't give me chills like the sound of an arena full of people singing "Amazing Grace.")

Jason, Lynn, me and Cody

Me and my bestie

A fun bonus--got to chat with my cousin Kym for a while too.

What I'm Loving Wednesday

It is time again to link up with Jaime for What I'm Loving Wednesday.

I am loving that I finally found a new pair of western boots. I have been looking for a pair for a couple of years now. I always amp up my search around rodeo time. I don't wear them much but for sure I do during this time of year. Anyway, I finally found a pair(the brand is Corral Vintage)and I love them. I love that they are brown and that they have a cross inlay on the side and on the toe. They even have a cross on the heel. So cute and versatile. Just girly enough to make me happy and just simple enough to get lots of use. ;)

Speaking of the rodeo, I am loving that my hubby and I get to go to the San Antonio Rodeo twice this week. Both times with great friends.
Tonight we get to see Mercy Me. They sing one of my favorite songs....I Can Only Imagine. Trust me, you do NOT want to be standing close to me when I hear this song. I can NOT help but belt it out. It is going to be an awesome concert!!

Then on Thursday we get to go see another great group perform...The Randy Rogers Band. I really like this one but it is one of Cody's absolute favorites so it will be awesome!! The best part is that I am getting all of these date nights with my hubby!

I am also loving that my little basketball player played in his third game and scored his first basket!! It was adorable because he looked right at us with the happiest smile on his face. (Bummed that I didn't get a picture of it. )We were so proud of him! The part I am loving the most is that he is really having fun out on that court.

Another love this Wednesday... bubble baths. My two littlest boys had lots of fun filling the tub with bubbles and making Santa beards on their cute little faces. They were in there for a looonnnng time. I finally talked them into getting out since their fingers were turning into little prunes.;)

Okay, you know I am a snacker so the last thing I am loving this Wednesday is this amazing, oh so yummy Popcorn Indiana Kettlecorn. They have these delicious Limited Edition flavors that I am loving...Drizzled Black & White Kettlecorn and  Dark Chocolate Chip Kettlecorn. Sure, the number of calories isn't as amazing as the sweet goodness, but it is really not that bad. Just 140 calories for the snack size bag. Works for me. I have only found it at Walgreens so far.  You gotta try them.

Rodeo

Last night was so much fun! We had been given tickets to see Lady Antebellum at the San Antonio Rodeo and were so excited! First we were able to have a yummy dinner at Outback Steakhouse with Cody's brother Bobby and his wife, Hillary and Cody's sister Stacy and her boyfriend. It is rare that just us couples get to go out together. It was so nice to to just chat and enjoy a great meal.

Our group at dinner
Can someone please remind me to not sit on the end next time? I always end up looking like an awkward lump in pics in that spot. =)

Then we headed to the Rodeo. Can I just tell you how much I love Lady Antebellum? I have been a huge fan of theirs for a while now. I love almost every one of their songs and they are just as good in concert. You know how there are those singers you listen to on the radio and they sound good but then you see them in concert and you are disappointed? Well, Lady A did not disappoint! They are just as good live as on my cds. I am an even huger fan now then before.
The screen--can you tell we were not sitting very close? =)
Me and my handsome date during the concert

Lady A workin' it. (Thanks for this picture Hillary)

***SNOW***

Okay, so last night I wrote this post totally thinking the snow we kept hearing about was gonna pass us by. I was a little bitter . =) CAUTION cheesy poem ahead:

Snow, snow, where did you go?
I have three boys who long for you soooo.

The weatherman said you were headed our way,
Instead we just got
a cold, windy day.

We just want a few white, fluffy flakes,
This Mama has pictures she'd love to take.

I guess we'll have school and not a day home to play,
Bummer-we were hoping for just one snow day!

BUT...we did get a snow day!!!!! YAY!!

I checked the district website at about 1:00 am and sure enough school had been cancelled.
So this is the revised and much happier post. =)

When we woke up about 7:00am our place looked like this(don't laugh, to us Texans this is a lot):
Snow on our rooftop!!

Our snow sprinkled backyard.

So we headed out to enjoy it! CAUTION picture overload ahead!
Cooper walked onto the back porch and the first thing he did was drop down to make a snow angel.

Of course Carter wanted to play too!

Then Colton and I created some snow art...

Next, the boys headed to what they referred to as their "snow trampoline!"

Carter just wanted to eat it!

After that, we ventured to the driveway to make some more snow angels.

Then, we took a few photos together.

Me and my boys!

All my favorites!!!!
Last, we headed to the lake near our house. It is a short walk but it was a super cold one! The boys love throwing rocks in the water when it is warm so we had to see if it was frozen. Yep--it was!

We spent the rest of the morning drinking hot cocoa, watching movies and relaxing by the fire. The sun came out around 10:30 am and by noon our snow was gone. It was fun while it lasted though!!

What I'm Loving Wednesday

I am linking up with Jaime again for What I'm Loving Wednesday. Here are my loves this week:

Oh how I love regular Dr. Pepper but it is not the best choice when you are on a diet. So I was super glad to see this new choice...Dr. Pepper TEN. Only ten calories per can and so yummy. I have to say it is very close to the real thing. I am loving it!

Another love this week...footed jammies. There is nothing sweeter than a clean, covered in calming lavender lotion, strawberry blond, baby in his fuzzy, footed pajamas. LOVE~LOVE~LOVE!

Ever heard of Scentsy? Well, one of my best friends sells it and I love it! I have several different warmers and the one I love most this Wednesday is my Valentine one. Heart shaped, red, smells amazing~ what's not to love?

Lastly, I am loving that my hubby and I get to spend Saturday night at the rodeo seeing one of our favorite groups...

They are awesome and have tons of great songs. The one I love most is one of OUR songs..."I Run to You." I can't wait!!!!
