1. How long have you and your significant other been together? 17 years--more if you count the "going together" days =)
2. How did you meet? {What's your "love" story?} I met Cody when my family moved and became neighbors to his family. I was 8 years old. He was the first boy I liked at my new school and notes were exchanged. We "went together" from 4th-8th grade. From then on, we were just friends. Friends with crushes on each other but friends just the same. =) In February of our Senior year in high school(1995), we got together again. He gave me a promise ring for graduation four months later. We have been together ever since.

4. If you are married, where did you get married at? Big or small wedding? We got married at First Protestant Church and the dinner/dance reception was at The Civic Center. It was a big wedding with a little over 500 guests. Traditional New Braunfels celebration!
On our honeymoon in Nassau, Bahamas. |
5. Do you have any nick-names that you call one another? Do share! We call each other babe most of the time. Silly but once we had kids we call each other Mama and Daddy too. In a sweet, not creepy way. ;)
6. Name 3 things you love most about your honey. Besides being tall and handsome, Cody is so smart, very witty and easy going. He is also the most loving and hands-on Daddy!

7. Tell us how he proposed? It was the last day of finals for the Fall semester of our Junior year in college. So Cody said we should celebrate by going to the restaurant we usually went to for special occasions--Jersey Lilys. We ate dinner and he didn't seem to eat as much as usual but it didn't tip me off. After we ate, we walked to a little gazebo that was lit up for Christmas and we sat on the wooden bench. Before I knew it, he was on one knee. I will never forget what he said," I have loved you since we were kids. Will you marry me AND spend the rest of your life with me?" Of course, I said yes!! Later he told me that he had originally planned to propose in a carriage ride on the square near the restaurant but when he called to make sure it would work, they only did the rides on weekends--it was a Tuesday. =) Oh well, it was perfect even without the carriage!

8. Is he a flowers and teddy bear kind of guy for v-day, or strawberries, champagne, and rose petals? He usually gets me flowers and some sort of thoughtful gift.
9. Are you a sunset dinner on the beach kind of girl, or pop a movie in and relax on the couch? I enjoy both! With three kids just being alone is nice, no matter where you are.
10. Tell us one thing you'd like to do with your significant one day. If you could do anything? Go anywhere? I would love to go to Hawaii. While we are there, I want to take a helicopter tour.
11. Tell us what you plan on doing on this Valentine's Day. Since it is a Tuesday night, we will more than likely just hang out at home. I will make a nice dinner and dessert for my hubby and our boys. I have four Valentines you know? =)
12. Are you asking for anything this Valentine's day? I would love to do some shopping for new boots and a new outfit for the rodeo.
13. Give us one piece of advice of keeping a relationship strong and full of love. You have to communicate. Talk about the things that bother you, even if they are small. Neither one of us can stay mad too long. We would rather give in, then be stubborn. **Keep God at the heart of it all!!**
