Trip recap-the drive home

Thursday morning we got packed up and started the 12 hours drive home. We decided to make it one long day of driving(with stops for potty and food of course) instead of staying somewhere for the night. The boys did great. I think they were so worn out  that they were just happy to watch movies and sack out. Hello Texas.... We pulled in our driveway a few minutes before midnight.

Colton played his DS in this not so comfortable position for the last part of the drive. He had lost his tooth on the way and wanted to stay awake to put it under his pillow for the tooth fairy. We assured him that we would make sure it was ready for her and he finally gave up about 45 minutes before we got home.
On a side note, we joked that Carter didn't like New Mexico. We saw a lot of crying fits come out of that cute little body. Maybe it was the altitude, maybe the virus, maybe (and most likely) the fact that he is almost two-- either way he is much more himself now that we are home. Who knows? I hate that he couldn't be in our snow and skiing pictures so here are a few random pictures of him from the trip...
He loves the modern "Cat in the Hat" movie, he laughs out loud and is glued to it. He also loved having this little screen to himself.
This coffee table had a sheet of glass in the middle which we promptly moved to safety. Then it became a fun place to play.

Trying on our ski gear. =)

What I'm Loving Wednesday

Happy Wednesday everyone! Time for...
Linked up with Jaime!

This week I will start with two shows that I LOVE! The first one is ...
If you have never seen it, I highly recommend it! I love the characters and the story lines. I also love the fact that we get a little glimpse of what life would be like with a husband that is serving our country. I have such respect for those who continue to fight for our freedom and those wives that "hold down the fort" while their husbands are away. I cannot imagine having my hubby be gone for months or even years at a time.

The other show I love, is new this season and comes on right after Army Wives. It is Coming Home. Oh my goodness! Just this clip made me cry. When I watched the show, I sobbed. But they were happy tears. Such amazing surprises are pulled off--you gotta watch it this Sunday!!

I also love that I have been finding lots of cute and matching outfits for all of my boys. It is a hard task to find stuff that comes in all three of their sizes. I know they may hate me for it one day but I LOVE having them match or at least coordinate. SO cute!! I had great shopping luck at OshKosh B'Gosh and at Gymboree. Here is a little past evidence of my LOVE of my matching boys...

One last quick love is my "Happy Everything" plate I have for my kitchen. It is so fun-- there is a spot at the top of the plate where you can change out the design attachment. The attachments you can buy are endless--for every holiday and occasion. I love the shamrock I just got for it. Here is the link to see where you can check it out

Miscellany Monday

Since I am always full of randomness, today I am linking up with Carissa at lowercase letters for...

Here goes...

1. My hubby has worked for the same company for 11 years. He got  his master's degree and went straight to work for HEB--a great company full of wonderful opportunities and wonderful people. He has had several different job titles there and enjoyed each one. However, today he starts a new job. One that is an amazing career move for him and a great thing for a our family. He is so excited to be starting as Key Account Manager for J Bar B Foods. I am so proud of my hard working man! =)

2. I can NOT even believe that tomorrow evening I will be registering my second baby for Kindergarten. I get a lump in my throat just thinking about it. How did my Cooper get to be old enough to go to "big school"?  All I have to say is thank goodness I will still have Carter at home with me or heaven help my husband. ;)  I know, I know- Cooper won't actually start until August but still time just goes way too fast....

My Cooper at about 7 mos  This is one of my all time favorite pictures of him--those cheeks!!

Cooper 4.5 years old --still has those sweet cheeks!!
3. The Strep monster got to my sweet Carter and he was pretty miserable Friday and Saturday.Thank goodness, his big brother's viking hat helped him have a little bit of fun and he showed me that ADORABLE smile!!

4. I have so much to get gathered and organized before we leave for our Spring Break ski trip on Saturday that I am completely a little overwhelmed. I have so many to do lists going that I am not sure where to begin.  I am pretty sure sitting at my computer blogging won't get anything marked off those lists. Off to get busy...

The last game

...of this basketball season anyway. Today was Colton's last game. He did really good. Hustled like a champ and as usual worked his defense. He almost made a few baskets and had fun out there. As I watched today, I was thinking about how much he has improved over this short season. I can tell he really understands how the game works now and he is much more into it. I think he really enjoyed it and we may just play again next year. He had another great cheering section again this week. His Omi and Opi, Aunt Laura, Landon, Luke and Livvy, Aunt Hillary, Uncle Bobby, Graham and Grady. (Thanks Mammy for watching Carter at home  since he was still sick with Strep.) Colton was so excited to see his cousins there-- it made him feel so special and loved!!!
Colton(in white) was working hard to guard this boy. A second after I shot this picture, the ref called a foul and told him he had to stay straight up and not bend over the boy. =)

The whole time our team in on offense, he always has his arms up and is calling his teammates name so he will pass the ball to him. =)

Throwing the ball in.

The last after the game meeting and prayer.

Cousins/fans =)

On Monday night, Colton has the Upward league award ceremony to go to. He is so excited and crossing his fingers there is a trophy involved. Don't worry, you'll see pictures. ;)

Subject: A Quote from one of my Students

Today I told my students that they are like little sponges and at this time in their lives, there is nothing that is unattainable as long as they work hard and give it their best. One of my students replies................... So what you are saying Mrs. Crosland is that children are like sponges, that soak up everything....... and adults are like mops, they don’t pick up as much!!!!! PRICELESS!!! I love being a teacher!!!

Talk about making my day!! I love that my son has an environment where he can develop those deep thoughts but also where he feels comfortable sharing them. I am telling you~ we( me, my hubby and Colton) LOVE Mrs.Crosland! Not only does she do a great job and works so hard teaching my son everyday, but she also takes the time to share these kinds of things with me. She really does love being a teacher and it shows. So awesome!
Colton was beaming when he told me the story afterschool. He was so proud that Mrs. Crosland loved his comment and she had the whole class applaud it. He was so excited that she sent an email to share what he said with the staff , Cody and I. She even had him call from school to tell me to check my email. I know that this is a day he will never forget. I feel so blessed because my prayers get answered everyday when I know that my son is excited about school, having fun while he is learning, becoming a more confident and secure little being and being loved and encouraged by his teacher. What more can I ask for as I send him to 2nd grade each day!?!?
Okay, I will stop now. I leave you with a picture of my amazing boy and his fabulous teacher!!

What I'm Loving Wednesday

Happy Wednesday!! I am linking up with Jaime again for another fun installment of

First of all, I am loving that in just 10 days we are heading to Angel Fire for Spring Break and I can't wait!! I am so excited to share a fun filled week of skiing with my boys! The only hitch is that we have very little cold weather wear so I have had to do some shopping. Wait, did I say hitch? Who I am kidding! I LOVE any excuse to shop!!
SO this WILW is all about the things I have been gathering to get ready for our trip!

I love this cute set I found for Carter for half off. I cannot wait to see him in it in the snow!!

Another love are these cute Croc boots I got for my littlest man. The good thing is he can even wear these here in the warm Texas winter.

I also love these Croc Boots I found for myself. On sale...love that!
I love road trips! Since we are driving the very long way to Angel Fire, I have been trying to find some things to make the road trip more fun for our young passengers. Here are a few things I have found.

I love the cute travel pillows I found for the boys. There is nothing worse than to look back and see their poor little heads bouncing around when they fall asleep in the car. I got a monkey and frog design from Target. (but for some reason the picture won't show up.) Hopefully, the pillows will prevent any sore necks.

The boys and I also love the movie Megamind. We saw it in the theater and it was really good! Since it just came out on DVD, I got that as a fun choice to watch on the road.
I also love these neat Take N Play magnetic games. I am hoping they help pass the time when they are getting antsy.

I still have lots to gather and then start the packing process. It should be interesting to pack for the five of us.
Have a great day!!
